A guide to asking about careKeep your questions

Check the commitment

Ready checklist: take a clear question sheet.

Being ready can mean having questions, not having chosen a medicine. Bring the points you want explained and leave room for the clinician's answer.

Sort the open questions

Read through your notes and put the hardest-to-answer question near the top. Keep the wording simple enough to read aloud.

  • What do I want help with?
  • Who will assess me, and which state record can I check?
  • What exact product might be proposed, and which pharmacy would send it?
  • What would the whole care bill cover?
  • How would I get an answer after the visit?

Make the answer usable

If an answer leaves a gap, write down the gap. A useful note names what is still unclear.

  • Ask for unfamiliar terms in everyday words.
  • Ask for the proposed plan and the charges in writing.
  • Keep unanswered questions for the next conversation.
